4    Direct selling is network marketing and participants can be successful just by building a large network through recruiting. Is that true?

That is not true.

Direct selling is the selling of products from distributors to consumers away from a fixed retail location. Besides earning profits through selling products and providing services, distributors can expand their sales network and increase their sales volume through recruiting and training new members. This is similar to the way medium and large sized chain stores expand their business. The only difference is that direct selling does not take place at a fixed retail location while chain stores have all sales activities carried out in retail outlets.

The sales network established by distributors serves only as a distribution channel. All distributors should focus on product selling and providing quality service, such as professional product consultation and demonstration, through constantly upgrading their sales techniques. As a result, their sales volume and income will be increased. Distributors also have to put in a lot of time and energy to train and guide their downline distributors in product knowledge and sales techniques. In this way, distributors can expand their market, increase their sales volume and gain more rewards.

Amway is a lawful and legitimate direct selling company and no Amway Distributors can succeed just by sponsoring or building a sales network. The characteristic of Amway's bonus scheme is trustworthiness and fairness, and the income of Distributors is determined by how much effort they pay. Distributors will not earn more income just because of their seniority or having more downline Distributors. A Distributor who is committed to the business would be able to achieve greater success than his Sponsor or Distributors who join at an earlier date.
